Day Fifteen
Day Thirteen
So today I thought I'd play with color. For me the subject matter was secondary to the interplay of color. I kinda like it.

Day Eleven
Flowers are everywhere in our daily lives. I think sometimes we tend to overlook them as we rush from one place to the next. A wise man once said, "Stop and smell the roses." I second that, but if you're allergic, maybe just admire them from a distance. These, of course, are not roses, but don't hold that against them.
Day Ten
I worked pretty late today. When I finally got home it was 11:30pm and as I removed my shoes I realized I hadn't yet taken my single shot for the day. I contemplated putting the shoes back on and driving around looking for something to turn into art. Or, I thought, maybe there is something here in my home. I collect clear glass spheres, I love them. Old paperweights from the sixties to decorative globes from today. As I desperately watched the clock wind down the last few minutes, I saw this paperweight as it caught the candle light from a nearby flame. I took this photo with ten minutes left in the day. That was a close one!

Day Seven
It rained all day. I knew I wanted something that conveyed southern california when it rains. Our beaches are always crowded, we are a society of sun worshippers. But when it rains the beaches are lonely stretches of sand.

Day Six
I went to a favorite restaurant for lunch today. Sadly it has closed down, but lucky for me this door was still there.

Day Five
I passed up several potential photos today. I kept thinking I'd find something better, something cooler to shoot for my one shot today. Suddenly I discovered that it was nearing 10pm and I only had two hours before the day ended. I found this sign, which belonged to the type of hotel that you would expect this sign to belong to. The neighborhood was not great, and I parked quickly in a bus stop. I threw open my door and prayed that my exposure was correct.

Day Four
Rust has a beauty all its own. Through the warts and bumps comes a kind of damaged grace that I find appealing in a photo. Feeling a bit under the weather today, I was wondering if I'd find anything to shoot for this project before the last of my energy ran out. As that thought ran through my mind, I saw this opportunity. It seems that the photos for this project present themselves most often when I am not looking for them.

Day Two
I took my car in for an oil change. It was early afternoon and I was desperately looking for something that I could make an artistic photo out of. Next door to Jiffy Lube was a little ethnic market and I walked all through it waiting for inspiration. finding none, I left by the back door and saw this.
Day One
So here it is. I only took a single image yesterday. Only on shot and then I put my camera away. What I discovered is that this project is forcing me to look at the world differently, to be more aware of my surroundings. Trying to find beauty in the everyday is going to be a challenge, but you'd be surprised how much there is to see if you open your eyes to look.
